summer vacation

almost over. they go back to school on thursday.
it just went so fast. i’ll really miss the lazy mornings.

and on a side note...sam is the only one that summer will sleep with like this.

19.8.11

walk

when you’d rather run.
don’t get me wrong...i love a good walk.
with my husband. with my kids. with my dog. by the beach.
but for exercise? i’d rather get it over with as soon as possible.
so i jog.
but i haven’t been able to lately because of all the surgeries.
today was one of my first days back at it.
so i thought i’d share one of the good things about walking.
going slow enough that you find all kinds of interesting things along the way.
(not to mention the random tall boys thrown in the woods along peckham.)

i don’t skinny dip...i chunky dunk

sign at a tacky gift store in tin city. but it made me laugh the whole trip. (vacation is my excuse for not posting in awhile.) we had an awesome time...good weather, good friends and good time with our family. visits with grandpa bookended our trip.

i’d post more pictures...

but if you want to see almost every photo taken, check out olivia’s facebook albums here.
and here.

8.7.10

1. june and july

2. last day of school. fun day...not field day. field day is too competitive. (?????) rainy day, but fun. i was slushy-lady.

3. baseball. 2 times a week...a tournament and an all-star game. and now, i actually like sitting and watching the indians play on tv. what’s going on? ill post some pictures in a separate post. i know, i know...i didnt invite aunt sheryl and uncle john. maybe a captains game in august?

4. a day at ikea. i love the shot of sammy standing in front of the incredibly breakable wall of glass. we went there to get stuff for our offices...brian and i are moving in together. 17 years...who’d a thunk. (pictures are from ikea and steak and lube across the street)

5. surgery. july 2nd. finally. i waited over a month and a half due to my doctors schedule. not bitter, just anxious. everything turned out ok for the most part...the size is perfect...except....

6. blisters. we had close to a week of 90 degree temperatures. on july 5th...after about the 4th day...we took the kids to beach to cool off. and i got heat blisters around the tape on my incision. yuck. i think it is going to be ok, but it doesnt look too pretty right now. lots of antibiotics and prescription creme.

7. birthdays. sammy on july 1st, grandpa seidel on the 5th and olivia on the 11th. my cousin kelly, posted some pictures on her facebook page of the kids at her wedding 3 years ago. it’s unbelievable how much they have grown!

8. 4th of july. nothing crazy around here...still sort of resting from my surgery...but nice fireworks down at the fairgrounds and steak on the grill.

9. i usually want to go to ten...but i’m tired and i just want to post. i admit it. i always have so many post ideas...but not the time to do them. i’ll have to figure out some sort of solution. any ideas?

23.6.10

all star

baseball tournaments all last weekend. this weekend...all star game. sammerjam was one of three players on his team to be selected. he likes to pitch, but he is an awesome first baseman. very proud of you, sammy!

16.6.10

happy birthday

one year old today!
only three years to go till she stops eating our couch?

11.6.10

summer day roach

and yes, that’s really her middle name. i thought it was pretty, but my kids think it’s goofy. it probably should have been “no.” that what she hears most of the time. these are her official mt pictures. as always, thanks to russ for making us look good. :)

10.1.10

summer in a snuggie

what can i say. my kids were with me...and i was weak at the grocery store. aunt sheryl, it’s all your fault. :)

25.8.09

more.

new school years eve

i’m sad. i am not one of those parents that can’t wait till their kids go back to school. i really love having my guys home. have i mentioned that my favorite thing in the world is hearing them laugh? they have done lots of that this summer. but tomorrow is the big day. (early for us burtonites...usually we don‘t go back till after labor day) i know they will love seeing all their friends and we will be in the routine before we know it. but till then...a couple pictures of summer goodness.

3.8.09

beach

at this rate, we’ll be booking next year’s vacation by the time i show you our vacation photos. still organizing.

22.7.09

parastuck

so...you’ll notice...i’m missing.
i am just ever so slightly claustrophobic. (my excuse for standing in the back during staff meetings!) enough to know that i really would enjoy just the boat ride more than the ride in the sky. so anyway, i watch my family go thousands of feet in the air only to have the winch on the boat break/stall/stop working. they were up there FOREVER! the captain is calling into shore...they are hitting the control panels with hammers...then taking it apart with a screwdriver and holding it up and shaking. finally, after one good slam...it started working again and they were brought back to the boat. having no idea what just went on. only that they couldn’t believe how long they were up there. and the funny thing (besides my worst fear come alive before my eyes)...all the other people on the boat, after watching this comedy of errors, STILL GO UP! would you?

(and my apologies if you’ve heard this one before!)

17.7.09

daily ritual : vacation edition

i think i probably got this from my mom.
it just makes me feel more organized to layout all the stuff i want to take in one place.
and olivia and sam love it. they started asking weeks before...
“when can we set out stuff in the kitchen?!”

16.6.09

one week

off from school so far.
approximately 4 arguments.
3 walks to the fairgrounds.
2 softball games, 1 forfeit.
2 baseball games, 1 bye.
2 parties.
1 sleepover.
1 case of poison ivy.
1 truck pull.
0 trips to the emergency room.

13.6.09

a saturday night

in burton. it’s a strangely interesting event.
not to mention good people watching.

9.6.09

beans

one of my contributions the hickox street garden.
century village provided plots to families in the village...
the weikarts, the bissels, and the roach family have ours all together.
tomatoes, beets, spinach, potatoes, cucumbers, all kinds of squash,
cilantro, basil and of course, beans.
i’ll take more pictures when it actually looks like something.
